Collect 3 Rules
Objective
- Goal: Complete the round's Task by collecting 3 cards.
- Example Task: Collect 3 cards of the same number (any colors).
- How you score: When you complete the Task, shout "Collect 3!" and grab a Crown card.
- Winning: The first player to reach the agreed-upon score wins.
| Players | Recommended winning score |
|---|---|
| 2–4 players | 10 points |
| 5–6 players | 15 points |
| 7+ players | 20 points |
Set up
- Shuffle: Remove the Crown cards (green back) from the deck, then shuffle all the remaining cards.
- Deal: Deal 3 cards to each player. If a player is dealt an Action Card (red back), they place it face-up in front of them right away and the dealer gives them a replacement, so their hand still has 3 regular cards.
- Place the Crowns: Put Crowns face-up in the center, where everyone can reach them. Use 1 fewer Crown than players. Example: 4 players → 3 Crowns.
- Choose the Task: The starting dealer picks any Task from the Task List for Round 1. Everyone plays the same Task.
- Seating: Sit in a circle so everyone can pass cards to the RIGHT.
Starting cap: A player can only START the game with one active Action Card. If a player would get a second Action Card during the deal, that card goes to the next player instead.
How to play
Key rule: everyone plays at the SAME time. There are no turns. Cards keep moving to the right until all the Crowns are claimed.
- Dealer draws: The dealer is the ONLY player who draws from the main deck. They draw 1 card and look at it.
- Keep or pass: The dealer decides whether that card helps complete the Task.
- Pass right: The dealer passes 1 card to the player on their RIGHT. It can be the card they just drew or a different card from their hand.
- Repeat: The dealer draws again right away and repeats steps 1–3 until the round ends.
- Everyone else: Each player does the same with the card they RECEIVE. Keep it if it helps, otherwise pass it RIGHT.
Hand size
Keep a hand of 3 cards. You only hold 4 for a moment while you decide whether to keep or pass. Face-up Action Cards in front of you don't count toward your hand.
Discard rule
- The player directly to the LEFT of the dealer is the only player who discards.
- They place 1 card face-up on a discard pile, and no one touches it.
- The discard pile is only used if the main deck runs out or when the round ends.
Card types
Regular cards
Use these to complete the round's Task.
Crown cards
Crowns are claimed, not played. When you complete the Task, grab 1 Crown to score points.
Wild card
Counts as any number or color for a Task. If you use it in your Collect 3, subtract 1 point from the Crown value you earn.
Skip card
Active for 3 passes. While it's active, you can't look at or keep any card you receive. You must pass it face-down to your RIGHT right away.
Bomb card
If this card is active in front of you when the last Crown is claimed, your total game score resets to 0.
Double Points card
If this card is active in front of you when you claim your Crown, you get double the points for that round.
Action Card rules (Bomb, Skip and Double Points)
- When you draw or receive an Action Card, place it face-up in front of you right away so everyone can see it.
- It does not count as one of the 3 cards in your hand.
- You keep an Action Card for exactly 3 passes. On your 4th pass, you MUST pass it to the player on your right.
- If you draw an Action Card while you already have one active, pass the new one to the player on your right.
End of round
- Round ends: when all the Crown cards for that round are claimed.
- Reset the deck: Shuffle ALL the cards back together (used, unused and the discard pile).
- Deck runs out? Shuffle the discard pile and keep playing.
- Next dealer: The player to the RIGHT of the dealer becomes the next dealer.
- Next Task: The new dealer picks ANY Task from the Task List for the next round.
Scoring & winning
Points depend on how many Crowns are in play that round. Call that number C.
| What happened | Points |
|---|---|
| 1st player to claim a Crown | +C |
| 2nd player to claim a Crown | +(C − 1) |
| Every player after that | 1 less than the player before |
| No Crown claimed | 0 |
| False "Collect 3!" call | −1 |
Example with 5 Crowns: 1st = +5, 2nd = +4, 3rd = +3, 4th = +2, 5th = +1.
- Wild card: If your Collect 3 uses a Wild card, subtract 1 point from the Crown value you earn.
- Double Points: If this card is active in front of you, multiply your Crown value by 2.
- Bomb card: If this card is active in front of you when the final Crown is claimed, your total game score resets to 0.
- Winner: The first player to reach the agreed-upon score wins.

Game modes
Points mode
Play multiple rounds and score points each round based on when you claim a Crown. The first player to reach the agreed winning score wins.
Elimination mode
If you do NOT claim a Crown in a round, you're out. Keep playing rounds until only 1 player remains.
Party mode
Play without Crown cards. Players still shout "Collect 3!" to score, using the same scaled scoring. The only player who doesn't complete the Task gets no points. In Elimination mode, that player is out.
